I won't spoil the game but their is a reference to another well known project from the same developer and fans of that game are sure to geek out upon finding it (I know sure did, lol). As stated before, Game Heroes is heavily built off the formula of the Zelda series but makes serveral references not only to other old school RPG (Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, etc) but more recent ones too. With that said, this game is definately a service for long time gamers and fans of the days of classic RPGs. So any time I hear that this game is a rip off, I always question if the person stating so was born after '94. From the comical and clever game references, down to voxel game design's nostalgic similarity to the 8-bit days of gaming. 3D Dot Game Heroes is a spoof of/tribute to the Zelda series and old school RPGs. Tack on another 15-20 if you want to do From Mode and get the last trophy.By Double_Wide | Review Date: AugFirst thing's first.I'm going to tackle the pink elephant in the room. I found the developers room where each developer is a character and they give you hints and riddles and codes and etc.Īll in all I'd say around 15 hours for the barebones playthrough, and perhaps 25-30 to do everything. There's also a lot of easter eggs to find. There's also two endings, and a second difficulty mode: "From Mode", where it is harder than Demon's Souls. Keep in mind I haven't done any sprite-editing, any exploring, only 3 out of a supposed 20 sidequests, etc. There's six dungeons in all, and then two "final areas". I'm 8 hours in and only on the 5th dungeon. Also try the free PC game "I want to be the guy" that you can download, although that one is meant to be ridiculously impossible. I loved Retro Game Challenge on the Nintendo DS so I figure this is kind of the same.
